Dog Leashes

A dog lead is a rope or similar material used to keep your dogs safe and prevent injuries. It has a loop at one end for slipping your hand through and some kind of snap at the other to attach to the dog's collar. It's designed to control them in public places and while training.

They come in different lengths, widths, styles, designs and types made available to suit different breeds of dogs, temperaments and behaviours, sizes, and needs. 

Dog leads are more than just a dog accessory. They're designed for your dog's safety.

It provides a simple way to handle and communicate with your dogs during training. Specifically, it prevents your pup from chasing or lunging, which potentially scares and hurts others, prevents your dog from going to inappropriate and unfamiliar places, and prevents them from running into a busy traffic, injuring themselves and perhaps causing accidents.

It can actually save your baby's life!

Leashes, leashes everywhere!

Well, it's basically a law. Many places implement laws that require owners to keep their dogs on a lead when in public. According to the Companion Animals Act of 1998, dogs in Sydney must be leashed in public places, except in designated off-lead areas.

So, if you're planning to have a pleasant, long stroll in the park, better keep your dogs on a lead to avoid unnecessary problems with associated penalties.

 Further, your dogs are recommended to be on a lead while in training. It can aid you in teaching your dogs tricks and appropriate behaviours. Don't forget to give them pats and treats!

You probably are confused about that little ring on your leads and its purpose. Well, the D-ring on the lead can be used in several ways. You can tie a dog poop bag holder on it, hang a keychain, use it as a slip lead, or shorten the leash. 

Start 'em young!

While other dogs don't mind at all, some just appear fearful and anxious when you try to use a lead on them. It might take a while for your dog to get used to it.

To effectively introduce your puppy to a lead, let them sniff and be familiar with it. Attach the lead to their collars or harnesses, give them a treat, and quickly remove it. Repeat the process several times, so your pup can associate the leash with happy things — like treats and walkies. 

At NALZO, our dog leads are heavy-duty. But, this doesn't mean we should not take care of it properly. We recommend hand washing and hanging to dry only. Avoid machine wash and tumble drying to keep the material in good quality.
