First on our list is Western Parklands’ off-leash area—Shale Hills Dog Park!
This 5-hectares of open space was specifically built for fur babies to enjoy. Apart from a vast free run area, it’s also equipped with state-of-the-art agility courses, including balance beams, tunnels, and weave poles that’ll surely get dogs moving.
Dogs on leashes can also exercise or walk with their fur parents on Western Parklands’ 60 km trails and tracks. Just make sure to protect your dog from hot pavement and watch out for signs of heatstroke.
But more than dog engagement, what sets Shale Hills apart from other dog-friendly parks in Western Sydney is its care for dog health and comfort. The park has terraces with umbrellas for shade and rest, fresh water fountains, and a garden filled with safe herbal plants—everything your dog could ever ask for!
So, what are you waiting for? Shale Hills has already set the standard for dog parks. The only ones it’s missing are you and your pup!
Shale Hills Dog Park is open 24/7 via an entrance at the intersection between Second and Mannow Avenues, West Hoxton. However, vehicle access is limited from 6 AM to 6 PM (8 PM in daylight savings).

This 200-hectare park also features two sealed tracks for walking and cycling (Heart Crossing Loop and the Bungarribee Trail), 18 picnic shelters, and a playground with slides and swings for families to enjoy.
You can find the park's entrance at the Doonside and Holbeche Roads intersection, where two large parking lots (the Runway Carpark and the Greenbelt Carpark) also await.
With all these amenities, Bungarribee Park is surely one of the best dog parks in Sydney for pups to train and bond with family. So, grab your MAMA dog bag and experience the Bungarribee glee! They even have the Bungarribee Woof-fest that dogs shouldn’t miss!
